There are vegetarians, there are non vegetarians. But in between there is a breed called Eggetarians.
And for we Eggetarians finding a food joint is like finding a subsection in a non vegetarian food joint. On the menu card we go to a non veg section and find egg dishes. Very rarely there is a section for eggs with very limited menu on card such as Egg curry / Egg Masala, Masala Omelette / Plain Omelette, Boiled Egg etc. And rarest rare thing is a good bhurji pav served in any fine dine restaurant (Seriously rarest rare???? )
I must say that the best bhurji pav is not served in any fine dine or high class restaurants.
It is definitely served at roadside stalls and some small joints. And Mumbai is the heaven for street food items.
Here are some of the best ever tested & tasted bhurji pav joints.
1. Qutuz Irani Cafe
Chincholi Bunder Road, Mindspace, Malad West, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400064
Timing : 5 am to 1:30 am
Located at BPO hub Mindspace, Malad; this small joint serves best ever bhurji pav in town. It is a GEM in the crowd of so many food joints around. It’s just too tiny and can occupy around 18-20 people at a time. Not so neat n tidy place but you can surely ignore the ambience for the taste and aroma of the food they serve.
Surrounded by many BPOs it is a favourite spot for some Irani chai / chai with malai, Maggi, Bhurji – Omelette, bun maska, bun malai, firni, Maggi, Cheese Maggi etc.
The rates are so economical that you can wind up a full tummy meal with an Irani chai just for 100 bucks per person.
It costs Rs. 25 for single bhurji pav and Rs. 40 for a double. There bhurji has a unique roasted taste like bhuna hua bhurji. 2 pav are served with bhurji. Surely it is not enough for a person due to the heavenly bhuna hua taste of bhurji. So order a double egg bhurji for your capacity.
5 star for their quick service *****
2. Mohammad Nashir Pavbhaji & Bhurji Centre
Mangal Jyot Building, CD Barfiwala Road, Vile Parle West, Mumbai
Timing: 7 pm to 4:30 am
Situated at C D Barfiwala Road, Vileparle West, this is Eggetarians’ Paradise that serves a variety of Egg dishes right from bhurji pav to cheese bhaji bhurji pulao.
They cost little higher than a regular roadside bhurji pav stall or eatery. A normal bhurji pav would cost you around 90 Rs and if you go for cheese bhurji pav, then it will cost you 130 Rs.
There are unique dishes served like Bhurji Pulav, bhaji bhurji pulav mix, Egg bhaji, Egg bhaji Pulav and many more.
So my eggetarian friends, you must try and taste this Eggetarians’ Paradise as early as possible.
3. Thakur Fast Food Corner
Shop A1, Kiran Industrial Estate, Opposite Kapadia Hospital, Goregaon West, Mumbai
Timings: 6:30 pm to 12:30 am
This is a very small egg food joint near Kapadia hospital, Goregaon west. It’s been more than 30 years they are serving delicious Anda pav and egg bhurji, omelette over here. And the speciality is that they use only desi egg in every dish they cook n serve.
Their egg bhurji is surely a 5 star rated one. But you should also try ulta pulta also called double pe double that is omelette of two eggs topped with 2 half fry cooked in a secret masala that tastes just yummm.
Don’t go with the ambience and have bhar pet bhurji pav here.
19A, Jay Bharat Industrial Estate, Opposite Virwani Industrial Estate, Off Western Express Highway, Goregaon East, Mumbai
Timings: 8 am to 9 pm
This is not a road side bhurji pav stall. Don’t go with the name, it just stands for the variety of all the roadside menu under one roof. You want to have bhurji pav in a nice ambience, then Roadside is a must visit place. It’s pocket friendly too.
They serve yummy delicious bhurji @ Rs. 60. Other egg items like omelette paratha, cheese omelette and egg benjo (an egg burger in short) are a must try.
5. Egg Adda
40, Shree Ganesh Aangan CHS Ltd, Near Thakur College, Thakur Village, Kandivali east, Kandivali East, Mumbai
Timings: 12 Noon to 4 PM, 6 PM to 12 Midnight
Last but not the least is Egg Adda. A new entrant who surely understands the problem of eggetarians of not getting enough variety in egg preparations. And the proof is 80% of their menu contains only egg dishes. Egg Pav, Egg masala Pav burger, egg spring roll, egg cheese balls and the list just goes on. A mind blowing place for all the eggetarians. It’s a small place near Thakur college and it’s a must try for an egg lover.
A new entrant is a roadside stall just opposite Qutuz Irani restaurant. It doesn’t have any name but three boys are running it. This time Qutuz was too crowded so thought of giving a try to this new joint and bang on…. they served us super tasty bhurji paav, boiled egg pav and the masala omlette was heavenly.
So above mentioned are some of the Egg food joints around Mumbai suburbs which I have visited, tested and tasted personally. Would update some more joints which I’m planning to try soon.
If I have missed out on any amazing Bhurji Pav serving joint, then please comment.
