These bite sized party appetizers are favourite of many. These are too cheesy, can’t claim it to be healthy as it contains lot of cheese and are deep fried. But they are definitely delicious. Loved by kids, loved by adults too.
An amazingly tantalizing, super delicious party appetizer that can be served with barbecue sauce, tomato ketchup or any favorite dip of your choice. This easy recipe for cheese corn balls that you can make from scratch at home and achieve that crispy and crunchy outside and soft, cheesy and gooey inside texture.
- Sweet corn – 1 cup, boiled
- Potatoes – 2, medium, boiled and mashed
- Cheese – 3/4 cups, grated (processed cheese / cheddar cheese)
- Corn flour – 2 tbsps
- Ginger-garlic – green chilli paste – 1 tsp
- Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup, finely chopped
- Capsicum – 1/4 cup, finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
- Corn flour for coating
- Breadcrumbs for coating
- All purpose flour (Maida) for coating
- 1 teaspoon tomato ketchup
- 2 teaspoons oregano
- 2 teaspoons chilli flakes
- half teaspoon chilli powder
Mix Mashed potatoes boiled corns, grated cheese, salt, tomato ketchup, oregano, chilli flakes, chilli powder, ginger – garlic-green chili paste, coriander leaves and 2 tsp corn flour. Mix all the ingredients to a smooth mixture. There should be no moisture. If the mixture has a lot of moisture or soggy, add breadcrumbs to help bind the mixture. Make small lemon sized balls of the cheese corn mixture.
Now coat each ball with corn flour, maida paste and lastly with bread crumbs.
Keep these coated balls in freezer for half an hour.
Heat the oil and remove the cheese balls from freezer. Fry them in hot oil. (no need to thaw them. you can fry them immediately after removing from freezer).
Fry them till they become golden brown in colour.
Remove the fried balls on paper napkin to remove excess oil.
Serve the balls with any dip of your choice.
PS – You can stuff the balls with small cheese cubes and they become extra soft and cheesy.
