Since I started introducing solid food to my baby, I tried incorporating iron rich ingredients in my recipes. So that she gets enough iron in this growing stage with these healthy baby food recipes. I started adding beetroot and spinach and sometimes dry fruit powders to her breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes. Which help to maintain the hemoglobin levels too and prevent anemia.
This is one of the very healthy baby food recipes 12 months onwards.
1 cup whole wheat flour
half beetroot grated
6-7 spinach leaves – make a puree of these leaves a grinder.
oil for kneading the dough
ghee/oil/butter for roasting the paratha
water as required to knead soft dough
salt as per taste
1 teaspoon cumin seeds powder
1 teaspoon carom seeds
2 teaspoons fresh curd
Make 2 portions of whole wheat flour
Take one portion, add oil, salt, half teaspoon carom seeds, 1 teaspoon fresh curd and grated beetroot to it.
Knead a soft dough. It will give you a dark pink colored dough.
Now take the second portion of wheat flour.
Add oil, salt, and remaining carom seeds.
Add remaining curd.
Add spinach puree and knead a soft dough.
This one will give dark green colored dough.
Keep both the dough balls aside for 10 minutes.
Keep them on each other and roll a thick flat bread out of it (2 layered)
Now make a roll of this thick roti and cut into thick dice shapes.
Take each dice, flatten on palm and roll a paratha as per desired consistency.
Heat a tawa/griddle and roast this paratha from both the sides. Apply ghee or butter while roasting.
Serve these beautiful and healthy parathas with any subzi of your choice.
